Cookie Policy

Effective date: July 6, 2026 · Last updated: July 6, 2026

Short version: Hai does not use traditional cookies. We use browser localStorage to store a single identifier that keeps your account accessible across sessions. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.

1. What We Use Instead of Cookies

Hai uses localStorage (a browser storage mechanism similar to cookies) rather than HTTP cookies. This is functionally equivalent for identity purposes but does not involve sending data with every HTTP request the way cookies do.

2. What We Store in localStorage

Key Purpose Duration Type
hai_uid Your randomly-generated user identifier. Without this, we cannot associate your conversations with you across sessions. Until you clear browser storage Strictly necessary
hai_gate_ok Records that you have successfully entered a valid access code, so you are not prompted again on return. Until you clear browser storage Strictly necessary

3. Third-Party Trackers

We currently do not use:

If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy, provide notice within the app, and (where required by GDPR) obtain your consent before setting any non-essential storage.

4. Your Choices

Because localStorage is strictly necessary to identify you within the Service, we do not offer an opt-out of localStorage while using Hai.

You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser settings (usually under Settings → Privacy → Clear site data). Note that clearing it will log you out and your local session will no longer be linked to your account. Contact privacy@hai.app if you need your stored data exported or deleted beforehand.

5. EU/GDPR

Under GDPR, "strictly necessary" storage does not require prior consent. The localStorage entries above are strictly necessary to provide the authenticated Service you have requested. No consent banner is required for these.

If we add non-essential analytics or marketing storage in the future, we will implement a compliant consent mechanism for EU/EEA users before doing so.

6. Changes to This Policy

We will update this page if our storage practices change. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision.
